Making a Will

If you die without a will, otherwise known as dying ‘intestate’, your estate will be distributed according to the rules of intestacy. These rules are inflexible and could mean that your family may miss out on your estate. 

Dying intestate typically costs heirs around £9,700 in lost assets and inheritance.

As long as you are over 18 and are of sound mind, you can make a will. 

You should consider making a Will if you

• You own a property
• Are co-habiting with a partner
• Are married or intend on getting married in the near future
• Have children
• Have some savings in the bank

That’s not a problem. All you need to do is let us know as soon as possible if your circumstances change and we can accommodate this within your will.

It is possible to make your will yourself but we strongly advise against this.
