Success for Family Client in rare application

Jordans' Family Law specialist, Lorraine Ridley, has recently represented a client with the assistance of Counsel, on a successful application to revoke a father’s parental responsibility.  

The application was made as a result of the father seeking contact with the child whilst he is in prison for serious sexual offences. The threshold for seeking such an order is exceptionally high and such applications are therefore rare. 

Ultimately, the Court has to be satisfied that terminating parental responsibility is in the best interests of the child. 

In this case, we were successful in highlighting the risk the father would pose to the child and client if he was to remain involved in their lives.
