Bradford Man Jailed For Appalling Sex Crimes
A 71-year-old man from Bradford has been jailed for 27 years after he was found guilty of committing numerus sexual crimes against three complainants over several decades.
Charles David Pratt, of Keighley Road, Skipton, was found guilty on 5 August 2024 following a trial at Bradford Crown Court and sentenced on Thursday (9 August). He has been placed on the sex offenders register for life.
The 19 charges included multiple counts of rape, other serious sex offences and one count of attempted indecent assault on a girl aged under 16.
The investigating officer, DC Neil Borchardt, praised the courage of the survivors in coming forward and encouraged others to do the same, saying “This case demonstrates once again that it is never too late to make a report to the police or to get help. Please do not suffer in silence. We are here for you.”
Echoing the officer’s comments, it is clear from the investigation that time and age is no barrier in criminal proceedings of this nature. Those involved in this case have shown that if a survivor of child abuse has the courage and bravery to come forward, the police will listen, no matter how long ago the incident took place, and do everything in their power to ensure they receive the justice they deserve.
