astwood Park was a detention centre for boys that operated during the Government’s sanction of Short, Sharp, Shock treatment. It saw prison officers abuse and mistreat teenage boys detained within the centre.

Patrick Devaney, a former guard at the Detention Centre was convicted of misconduct in public offence in April 2023. The sentencing of Devaney has been postponed on numerous occasions. However Devaney is now due to be sentenced at Bristol Crown Court in August 2023.
