Nursery worker charged with 25 counts of child abuse
Rocksana Lecka, aged 21 from Hounslow, has been accused of 12 counts of child cruelty, 12 counts of actual bodily harm, and one count of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm.
Lecka was employed at Twickenham Green Montessori nursey, a nursey where parents pay up to £1,900.00 a month for childcare. The nursery was rated ‘good’ by Ofsted when it was inspected in March 2022. Since the child abuse allegations, Ofsted have suspended the nursey’s registration pending the ongoing investigation.
The Metropolitan Police said officers launched a fast probe after concerns were reported on 2nd July 2024. They have not confirmed how many victims were involved. Lecka was arrested three days later and charged last week.
Can I bring a claim against the nursery for failing to care for my child?
The law states that when a child under the age of 18 suffers abuse, you have until the victim’s 21st birthday to bring a claim against the nursery and/or local authority for failing to look after the child. Sometimes, the court will let you bring a claim after the victim’s 21st birthday if there are certain reasons that it could not be brought within the specified timeframe.
How can Jordans Solicitors assist?
If your child suffered abuse at the hands of Lecka or another nursery worker, we may be able to help claim against the relevant local authority for failing to adequately care for your child. We would put in a claim against the local authority, and seek compensation for the abuse that your child suffered. This would be done on a ‘no win no fee’ basis.
