Act on IICSA
The final report of the Inquiry into Childhood Sexual Abuse (IICSA) was finally published in October 2022 after a 7 year enquiry.
Like a lot of lawyers who had an interest in the inquiry and the report, Jordans Solicitors have published many blogs and articles over the years in relation to the inquiry, the report and the recommendations of the inquiry.
We also responded to the Government’s consultation in relation to the proposed reform of the law of limitation in child sexual abuse cases in England and Wales. The current law is unsuitable for child sex abuse cases and needs to change.
It is now 2 years since the final report was published and as yet not 1 of the report’s recommendations has been implemented at a national level.
This has of course all been reported on widely in the media and a lot of my clients are following the events – or rather the lack of action - very closely. One of my clients feels so strongly that the current limitation rule is unfair that he has contacted his local MP to demand immediate action from the government.
All our clients feel that the survivors of abuse have been made to wait long enough for justice and that action should be taken now by the government.

How to Support the Campaign:
Here are some suggestions how:
- Introduce yourself as a constituent: Explain why this issue matters to you, whether professionally or personally.
- Acknowledge victims and survivors: Recognise the 7,000 individuals who testified for IICSA and the estimated 13 million adult survivors in the UK today.
- Express support for the campaign: Emphasise the CPA’s necessity for child protection reform.
- Request MP action: Ask your MP to write to the Minister for Safeguarding, Jess Phillips, to show their support and inquire about the government’s actions on IICSA’s 20 recommendations.
Please ask your MP to copy [email protected], so we can track support.
